Chat apps sign you in with your Argil account. Coding agents take an API key, or sign you in when they can open a browser. Either way, the client works in one workspace: it uses that workspace’s models, library and credits.

Chat apps

1

Add Argil

In ChatGPT, turn on Developer mode in Settings → Plugins → Advanced, then Create a plugin:
  • Name: Argil
  • URL: https://mcp.argil.ai/mcp
  • Authentication: OAuth
2

ChatGPT opens Argil. Sign in, pick the workspace ChatGPT may use, and approve.
3

Ask

Mention Argil, or simply ask for an image or a video.
Your own files. Chat apps do not pass files attached to a message to Argil. Upload the file in your Argil library and say “use my latest upload”, or give a public link.

Coding agents

Create an API key in Workspace settings → API keys and export it:
Check it with /mcp: argil is listed as connected. Add --scope user to use it in every project. To sign in instead of using a key, leave out --header, then run /mcp, select argil and Authenticate.
Your own files. Point the agent at a local file (“use ./assets/serum.png”) and it uploads it to your library. Approvals. Clients ask before a tool that creates or deletes something. To stop being asked while a video renders, allow the read tools, such as get_generation (in Claude Code: mcp__argil__get_generation).

Disconnect

  • ChatGPT: Settings → Plugins → Argil → Disconnect.
  • Claude: Settings → Connectors → Argil → Disconnect.
  • Grok: remove Argil in grok.com/connectors.
  • Gemini: remove Argil in Settings → Connected apps.
  • Coding agents: remove the server (claude mcp remove argil, grok mcp remove argil…), and revoke the key in Workspace settings → API keys.
Leaving the workspace, or being removed from it, ends every connection at once.
